About Me
Hello, My name is Mike Ludwig, and I am a graduate of Kuemper Catholic High School in Carroll, Iowa (1996) and Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa (2000).
Growing Up,
I learned how to draw by looking at comic books, and artists like Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, and Jack “The King” Kirby were my greatest influences. Even though I collected comics, I rarely read them, because I was always trying to emulate them. At one point I had over 1000 issues, but I hadn’t read even 100 of them.
In High School,
I kept drawing comic books but then ventured into sports illustration work with my first colored pencil Michael Jordan drawing. One of my favorite mediums to work in was watercolor pencil on cardboard, particularly cardboard I got while working at Subway. One of my best illustrations was of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman, which I drew in watercolor, on the back of a pickle box. My mom liked it so much, she would later go on to have it professionally framed.
In College,
I did a lot of different things, that included more comic book drawings, sports illustrations, nude model images, and of course, computer designs.
Since College,
I have been working in the screen printing industry as a Head Designer, Art Director, and a Graphic Artist. I’ve learned a lot about hard work and how to get an impossible task done very quickly and accurately.
I am grateful for what the screen printing industry has done for me, but I am ready to move on to bigger things. In 2018, and moving on to 2019, I would like to pursue a career in Marketing and Managment. My years of experience in many years of graphic, web, and print design have prepared me for this career change and I plan to embrace it fully.
